No Hope, No Fear
Group Show organized by Daniel Peterson
Rosa Aiello, Marco Barrera, Ian Markell, Emma McMillan, Johann Neumeister, Daniel Peterson, Rose Salane, Eric Schmid, Roger Van Voorhees
In June 2015 Daniel Peterson, an artist based in New York, had a solo exhibition, Pave Me A River at Taylor Macklin in Zurich. On display were three anthropomorphic sculptures, a series of anti-fatigue mats and two wall images, these works offerred ways of thinking about how the body can be optimized under contemporary working conditions. Ever since Daniel has been in correspondence with the members of Taylor Macklin, who invited him to organize an exhibition in Apartment Suit #2 of the ISR’s Dipendenza building.
No Hope No Fear, the exhibition Daniel curated for this project, is a result of the standing correspondence between Daniel and artists Rosa Aiello, Marco Barrera, Ian Markell, Emma McMillan, Johann Neumeister, Daniel Peterson, Rose Salane, Eric Schmid, Roger Van Voorhees – a correspondence that has at times been a constellation of a chaotic nature.
In order to realize the project, Daniel Peterson travelled to Rome with artist and friend Rose Salane, who is realizing a site specific installation in one of the bedrooms of the apartment as well as the press release for Apartment Suite #DD. The press release takes the form of a newspaper article which offers anecdotical insights into the realization of the exhibition.
